I’ve made this comic about a show that meant a lot to me during my teenage years. Sadly, the focus of this comic - Yvonne Suhor - passed away in 2018 from pancreatic cancer.
Partially inspired by Jane Schoenbrun's film, I Saw the TV Glow, I thought about how sometimes a fandom is not just a fandom. Not just something you enjoy, it's also something that is a key to figuring out who you truly are and who you want to be. Yvonne Suhor's interpretation of her character of "Lou" in The Young Riders helped me in this way. Seeing Yvonne's portrayal helped me to realize that I could be both female and male. Some days I would be leaning more one way and some days I might be embracing the other. It meant so much to me growing up.
